A bonnet hinge 3 for coupling a portion of a bonnet 11 to a vehicle body 5 has a closed configuration, and an open configuration (figure 4). The hinge also has a displaced configuration (figure 5) for displacing the coupled portion from the vehicle body. The hinge has: pivotable coupling 35 for connection to the vehicle body; hinge arm 33 connected to the coupling; bonnet mounting bracket 31 connected to the hinge arm; and control arm 37 connected to the hinge arm and comprising an attachment point 49 for an opening actuator 13 to provide a normal operation force AF1 to move the hinge between closed and open. The hinge has a lock mechanism 71 to releasably maintain a geometric relationship between the mounting bracket, the control arm and the hinge arm. At least one attachment point (55, 56 figure 5) for a displacement actuator (23) to provide a displacement force (DF1) to move the hinge to the displaced configuration. The lock maintains said geometric relationship during application of force AF1 while preventing transition to the displaced configuration. On application of force DF1 the lock mechanism releases such that said geometric relationship is not maintained and the hinge transitions to the displaced configuration.
