PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To have a user heading toward a destination execute the starting up of a situation-dependent application without complicated operations.SOLUTION: A portable information terminal 100, provided with an application-related information storage unit for storing application-related information including application information and startup conditions, searches for a movement route from the place of departure to a destination, specifies movement-related information pertaining to the movement status of a user heading toward his destination, and, referring to the specified movement-related information and the application-related information storage unit, specifies the application to be started that indicates an application that satisfies the startup conditions. The portable information terminal 100 further displays one selection object on a display device when it specified the application to be started, and starts up the application to be started when it accepts selection of the displayed selection object.
