PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical beacon capable of restricting light projected from a light projection section from being made incident to a light reception section via a housing cover member.SOLUTION: An optical beacon 1 performs optical communication with an on-vehicle unit S mounted on a vehicle on a road. The optical beacon includes: a light projection section 7 for projecting an optical signal to a road; a light reception section 8 for receiving an optical signal emitted from the on-vehicle unit S; and a housing 21 for storing the light projection section 7 and the light reception section 8. The housing 21 includes: a light projection side cover area B1 for covering the light projection section 7; a light reception side cover are B2 for covering the light reception section 8; a boundary area B3 positioned between the light projection side cover area B1 and the light reception side cover area B2; and also a cover member 44 capable of transmitting an optical signal. A reflection restriction member 46b having a refractive index greater than the refractive index of air is arranged on the outer surface of the boundary area B3 in an adhesion state to the outer surface.
