PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic information processing system and method deriving a congestion length traffic information and other information, even in a state where a diffusion rate of an on-vehicle device capable of acquiring a track of a vehicle is low.SOLUTION: A traffic information management system 1000 extracts,on the basis of characteristic probe information collected from at least two vehicles 6 regarding a specific intersection, a collection behavior parameter indicating collective behavior of the vehicles 6. Consequently, regardless of quantity of the characteristic probe information, the traffic information management system acquires information having high reliability on a traffic situation such as congestion.

    【課題】車両の軌跡の取得を可能にする車載器の普及率が低い状態であっても、渋滞長その他の交通情報を導出する交通情報処理システム及び方法を提供する。【解決手段】交通情報管理システム1000において、特定交差点に関して少なくとも2つの車両6から集めた特徴的プローブ情報に基づいて車両6の集合的挙動を示す集合挙動パラメータを抽出する。これにより、特徴的プローブ情報の多小に関わらず、渋滞等の交通状況に関する信頼性の高い情報を取得する。【選択図】図1
