PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device which transmits power to a power reception device in a contactless manner and which can detect even a foreign substance that is relatively small in comparison with a power transmission coil.SOLUTION: A foreign substance detector 460 includes a plurality of first coils 468 and a plurality of second coils 478. The plurality of first coils 468 are disposed along a top face of a power transmission coil 410. The plurality of second coils 478 are provided in accordance with the plurality of first coils, and each of the second coils 478 is disposed oppositely to the corresponding first coil 468. An outer shape of each of the plurality of first coils 468 and each of the plurality of second coils 478 is smaller than an outer shape of the power transmission coil 410 in a planar view of the power transmission coil 410 from above the power transmission coil 410.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
