PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a hybrid electric vehicle, the hybrid electric vehicle and a control method for the hybrid electric vehicle.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a control device for a hybrid electric vehicle including an engine and an electric machine. The control device is constituted to control the electric machine to provide torque for driving the vehicle with the engine stopped when a state of charge of an energy accumulation device exceeds an EV start SoC threshold value at start of the vehicle and to start of the engine when the SoC of the energy accumulation device falls below the EV start SoC threshold value. The EV start SoC threshold value is determined to be one selected from a value that is sufficient to allow the vehicle to travel a predetermined distance before the SoC falls below an SoC minimal level for starting the engine and a value that is sufficient to allow the vehicle to drive for a predetermined period before the SoC falls below the SoC minimal level.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
