PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack shaft capable of reducing a shaft length, and a power steering device having the rack shaft.SOLUTION: A rack shaft 13 comprises: a rack tooth formation part 13A in which an effective rack tooth row 131 is formed by plastically deforming an outer peripheral surface of a shaft member W into a concave shape; a non-rack tooth part 13B having no rack tooth; and a connection part 13C for connecting the rack tooth formation part 13A and the non-rack tooth part 13B, which is located at an end part in a shaft direction of the concave shape and is plastically deformed according to the plastic deformation of the rack tooth formation part 13A. Non-effective rack teeth 134 adjacent to the effective rack tooth row 131 are formed in the connection part 13C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
