PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast water treatment apparatus and a ballast water treatment method that set a proper supply amount of an oxidizer corresponding to water quality of raw water required to obtain a sufficient residual concentration of the oxidizer even after a long time since the oxidizer is supplied to the raw water.SOLUTION: Storage means 23 stores as a first correspondence a correspondent relation between an absorbance of raw water and a dissolved organic carbon concentration in the raw water, and as a second correspondence a correspondent relation between the dissolved organic carbon concentration and a residual oxidizer concentration after a predetermined time since the oxidizer, required for eradicating organism in the raw water and suppressing reproduction of the organism stored in a ballast tank, is supplied to the raw water. Processing means 24 obtains a required residual oxidizer concentration after a predetermined time correspondent to an absorbance of the raw water measured by an absorptiometer 21 in reference to the first correspondence and the second correspondence, and calculates a required supply amount of the oxidizer, setting the obtained residual oxidizer concentration as a target control value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】酸化剤を原水に供給してから長時間経過した後においても十分な残留酸化剤濃度を確保するために必要な酸化剤供給量を、取水する原水の水質に対応して適正量とするバラスト水処理装置およびバラスト水処理方法を提供する。【解決手段】記憶手段23は、原水の吸光度と該原水の溶存有機炭素濃度との対応関係を第一対応関係として記憶し、上記溶存有機炭素濃度と、原水中の生物を殺滅処理するとともにバラストタンクに貯留中の生物の再増殖を抑制するために要求される、酸化剤を原水に供給してから所定時間経過後の残留酸化剤濃度との対応関係を第二対応関係として記憶しており、演算手段24は、上記第一対応関係及び上記第二対応関係を参照して、吸光度計21により計測された原水の吸光度に対応する上記要求される所定時間経過後の残留酸化剤濃度を導出し、その導出された残留酸化剤濃度を制御目標値として酸化剤必要供給量を算出する。【選択図】図3
