PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or dispel irritation or discomfort of a user when waiting for the ready on state at the time of freezing point startup, and uncomfortable feeling when a desired output cannot be obtained even if stepping an accelerator after ready on.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system includes means 300 for estimating the time required for achieving a target output, until a fuel cell 40 after freezing point startup can exhibit an output desired by the user of the fuel cell system, or a predetermined output depending on the desired output, based on the water content in the fuel cell 40, and the temperature in the fuel cell 40 at the time of freezing point startup, and means 160, 165 for notifying the user of the time required by the means 300 for estimating the time required for achieving a target output.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
