PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform control for overhead-wire power collection and charge/discharge control for power storage elements while suppressing increase in cost, weight and size.SOLUTION: A power converter 3 according to the present invention is mounted on an electric motor vehicle 1 equipped with a power storage element 6, a load and an intermediate circuit 4 that is connected to the power storage element 6 and the load and holds a DC voltage, provided between an overhead wire 10 and the intermediate circuit 4, converts an overhead-wire voltage into a DC voltage different from the overhead-wire voltage and makes the intermediate circuit 4 to hold the DC voltage, which has a control portion 30 that controls currents or power to be inputted and outputted between the overhead wire 10 and the portion according to charge/discharge current command Ifor commanding current values of charge/discharge currents Iflowing between the power storage element 6 and the intermediate circuit 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
