SOLUTION: A non-contact charging system comprises: a power transmission side device including a power transmission unit and communication means; and a power reception device including a power reception unit, communication means, and switching means. The power transmission unit transmits minute power to the power reception unit before charging of a battery connected to the power reception side device is started. The communication means on the power reception side establishes bidirectional radio communication using a communication path not passing through the power transmission unit and the power reception unit, on the condition that the minute power is transmitted/received between the power transmission unit and the power reception unit. The switching means switches a state related to the battery from a first state incapable of performing charging to a second state capable of performing charging, on the condition that the power reception unit has received the minute power. The power transmission unit, when information showing that the battery being in the second state has been received, transmits power greater than the minute power to the power reception unit, instead of the minute power.EFFECT: High output power for charging a battery 201 is prevented from being supplied to a power reception side device, although the power reception side device is in a no-load state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
