PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack shaft which can improve a degree of freedom of the setting of a stroke ratio while suppressing the lowering of the rigidity of rack teeth.SOLUTION: A rack shaft 6 has a rack teeth forming region 12 in which a plurality of rack teeth 11 which are engaged with pinion teeth of a pinion shaft 5 are aligned in an axial direction X. The rack teeth forming region 12 includes a center region A in the axial direction X, and an outside region B which is located outside the center region A in the axial direction X. Rack teeth 11A in the center region A include first portions 21 having first pressure angles, and second portions 22 which adjoin the first portions 21 from a tooth thread direction WA, and have second pressure angles which are larger than the first pressure angles. Rack teeth 11B have third pressure angles which are larger than the second pressure angles. A stroke ratio is larger in the case that the rack teeth 11A are engaged with pinion teeth 10 than in the case that the rack teeth 11B are engaged with the pinion teeth 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】ラック歯の強度の低減を抑制しつつストロークレシオの設定の自由度を向上させることができるラック軸を提供する。【解決手段】ラック軸6は、ピニオン軸5のピニオン歯と噛み合う複数のラック歯11が軸方向Xに並んで形成されたラック歯形成領域12を有する。ラック歯形成領域12は、軸方向Xにおける中央領域Aと、軸方向Xにおいて中央領域Aよりも外側に位置する外側領域Bとを含む。中央領域Aにおけるラック歯11Aは、第1圧力角を有する第1部分21と、歯すじ方向WAから第1部分21に隣接し、第1圧力角よりも大きい第2圧力角を有する第2部分22とを含む。ラック歯11Bは、第2圧力角よりも大きい第3圧力角を有する。ストロークレシオは、ラック歯11Aがピニオン歯10に噛み合っているときよりも、ラック歯11Bがピニオン歯10に噛み合っているときにおいて大きい。【選択図】図2
