PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power conversion system for a railway vehicle in which the occurrence of such a trouble that the temperature of a second electrical instrument having low allowable temperature exceeds the allowable temperature to rise.SOLUTION: This electric power conversion system 100 for a railway vehicle comprises: a housing 20 including a main circuit chamber 20a and a control chamber 20b; a main circuit part 31 disposed in the main circuit chamber 20a and performing an electric power conversion; and a control unit 32 disposed in the control chamber 20b, having a lower heat generation amount and a lower allowable temperature than those of the main circuit part 31, and controlling the main circuit part 31. The system 100 further comprises: a wall portion 26a for thermally separating the main circuit chamber 20a from the inside of the control chamber 20b; and ribs 22b, 23b, 24b and fans 61, 62 provided in the control chamber 20b and releasing the heat of air in the control chamber 20b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
