PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for generating a virtual viewpoint image at a high frame rate that can be realized at a low cost.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a conversion unit that converts photographed images obtained by a plurality of cameras photographing the periphery of a moving object into projection images; and a generation unit that generates a virtual viewpoint image viewed from a virtual viewpoint on the basis of the plurality of projection images. The conversion unit performs reduction processing for lowering the resolution of the projection image as compared with the resolution of the captured image and projection processing for projecting the captured image on a virtual projection plane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
