PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently improve the strength around a welded part of a portion of a vehicle body frame on which a drive unit is suspended in an electric power assisted bicycle.SOLUTION: An electric power assisted bicycle comprises: a vehicle body frame 10 that includes a head pipe, a down tube 12 extending obliquely downward and rearward from the head pipe, and a bracket 14 attached to a rear end portion of the down tube; a drive unit suspended on the bracket; and at least one wire or wiring passing through the inside of the down tube. The bracket has a front wall portion that is located at the front part of the bracket and abuts against the rear end face of the down tube, an upper wall portion 14b located at the upper part of the bracket, and a pair of side wall portions 14c located at the side parts of the bracket. The vehicle body frame further includes a gusset for connecting a lower surface at the rear end portion of the down tube with a portion in the front wall portion of the bracket, which is located below the rear end face of the down tube.
