To provide an electric booster that suppresses an increase in ineffective depressing force while making a difference between depressing force at the initial stage of a brake pedal depressing operation and depressing force at the initial stage of a return operation.SOLUTION: In depressing force at the initial stage of a brake pedal depressing operation, a load required to rotate a nut member 52 is added to a set load of a helical compression spring 53. In depressing force at the initial stage of a brake pedal return operation, the load required to rotate the nut member 52 is subtracted from the set load of the helical compression spring 53. This enables an increase in ineffective depressing force to be suppressed, while making a difference between the depressing force at the initial stage of the brake pedal depressing operation and the depressing force at the initial stage of the return operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
