To make it possible to easily perform start control while suppressing consumption power of a motor with application of a technique for engine start and engine reverse rotation start by the motor.SOLUTION: An engine start control device comprises a motor 20 which can drive an engine 1, an engine control part 41 and a motor control part 42. The motor control part 42 sets a motor torque so that a piston 5a of a gas column 2a during a compression stroke at a stop time is stopped after moved to a prescribed reference position P0 that does not exceed a compression top dead point at a start time of the engine 1. The engine control part 41 operates the motor 20 by the motor torque when a piston stop position of the gas column 2a is on a bottom dead point side with respect to closing timing of an intake valve 11, and thereafter, causes the gas column 2a to burn and causes the engine 1 to temporarily reversely rotate, and then, causes to a gas column 2b during expansion stroke at a stop time to burn and causes the engine 1 to normally rotate. On the other hand, when the piston stop position is on the top dead point side with respect to closing timing of the intake valve 11, control for reverse rotation is not executed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10

    【課題】モータによるエンジンの始動及びエンジンの逆回転始動の技術を適用しつつ、モータの消費電力を抑制すると共に始動制御を容易化する。【解決手段】エンジンの始動制御装置は、エンジン1を駆動可能なモータ20、エンジン制御部41及びモータ制御部42を備える。モータ制御部42は、停止時圧縮行程気筒2aのピストン5aが、エンジン1の始動時において、圧縮上死点を越えない所定の基準位置P0まで移動した後に停止するようモータトルクを設定する。エンジン制御部41は、気筒2aのピストン停止位置が、吸気弁11の閉時期よりも下死点側であるとき、前記モータトルクでモータ20を動作させた後に、気筒2aを燃焼させてエンジン1を一時的に逆回転させ、次いで停止時膨張行程気筒2bを燃焼させて、エンジン1を正回転させる。一方、ピストン停止位置が、吸気弁11の閉時期よりも上死点側であるとき、前記逆回転の制御を実行しない。【選択図】図10
