To provide an actuator for an electric parking brake by which a high reduction ratio can be obtained, and which can be downsized.SOLUTION: There is provided an actuator for an electric parking brake, which comprises an electric motor 21, a deceleration mechanism 30 and a linear motion mechanism 40, and generates braking forces at wheels by pressing brake pads 3, 4 to brake disks 2 by converting rotational motion of the electric motor 21 decelerated by the deceleration mechanism 30 to linear motion by the linear motion mechanism 40. The actuator comprises: a first sprocket 22 which is arranged coaxially with the electric motor 21; a second sprocket 23 which is arranged in parallel with an axis of the first sprocket 22; and a chain 24 for transmitting the rotational motion between the first sprocket 22 and the second sprocket 23. The deceleration mechanism 30 is formed as an eccentric deceleration mechanism having an eccentric part 32 which eccentrically moves by the rotational motion from the electric motor 21, decelerates the rotational motion imparted to the eccentric part 32, and transmits the rotational motion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
