To facilitate required stepping of a brake pedal when starting an engine.SOLUTION: A pneumatic booster is configured so that a relation during non-braking is first clearance C1≥second clearance C2>third clearance C3 when clearance in a direction along an axial direction between a rod holder 38 and a large diameter section 36a of an output rod 36 is defined as the first clearance C1, clearance relatively movable between a plunger 25 and a stop key 39 is defined as the second clearance C2, and clearance between the other surface 66 of a reaction force member 64 and a second tip surface 25b of the plunger 25 is defined as the third clearance C3. Therefore, since the output rod 36 can be advanced by prescribed amount before receiving spring force of a return spring 37, a brake pedal can be easily stepped up to stroke amount required for starting an engine of an automobile even in a state in which negative pressure is released and assist by differential pressure cannot be obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】エンジン始動時に必要なブレーキペダルの踏み込みを容易にする。【解決手段】気圧式倍力装置は、ロッドホルダ38と出力ロッド36の大径部36aとの軸方向に沿った方向のクリアランスを第1のクリアランスC1、プランジャ25とストップキー39との間の相対移動可能なクリアランスを第2のクリアランスC2、反力部材64の他方の面66とプランジャ25の第2の先端面25bとの間のクリアランスを第3のクリアランスC3としたとき、非制動時の関係が、第1のクリアランスC1≧第2のクリアランスC2>第3のクリアランスC3となるように構成されていることで、リターンスプリング37のばね力を受けるよりも前に、出力ロッド36を所定量前進させることができるため、負圧が抜けて差圧力によるアシストが得られない状態でも、自動車のエンジン始動に必要なストローク量まで、容易にブレーキペダルを踏み込むことが可能となる。【選択図】図2
