To provide a traveling state detection device and a work machine including the same, which realizes safety travel of the work machine on a bridging member.SOLUTION: The traveling state detection device comprises a first sensor 2 and a second sensor 3 which are provided on an upper revolving structure 22 and are capable of detecting a ladder-shaped member 30 when the upper revolving structure is facing the front with respect to the lower traveling structure 21, and determining means for determining the traveling state of left and right traveling crawlers 25 based on the detection results of the first sensor and the second sensor. The detection position of the first sensor is located in front of the traveling crawler on the right side in a forwarding travel direction on its truck. The detection position of the second sensor is located in front of the traveling crawler on the left side in a forwarding travel direction on its truck. The determining means is configured to determine that at least one of the left and right traveling crawlers would step out from the ladder-shaped member when at least one of the first sensor and the second sensor does not detect the ladder-shaped member during traveling of the left and right traveling crawlers on the ladder-shaped member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
