To appropriately perform light distribution control of a head lamp by avoiding false recognition of a visual guidance light.SOLUTION: In an outside-vehicle environment recognition device, a computer functions as: an oncoming vehicle extraction part for extracting a head lamp candidate for an oncoming vehicle from an image; a visual guidance light extraction part for determining whether a UV average value of the extracted head lamp candidate is included in a prescribed identification range in a UV plane, and excluding the head lamp candidate from the head lamp candidates by determining that the head lamp candidate is a visual guidance light when included in the identification range; and an oncoming vehicle recognition part for recognizing an oncoming vehicle on the basis of the head lamp candidate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
