To provide a wire rope inspection device and an elevator capable of favorably conducting an inspection of a wire rope with a non-destructive inspection device.SOLUTION: A wire rope inspection device is formed by arranging multiple wire ropes 7a in parallel, and comprises a row of wire ropes hanging a car, a non-destructive inspection device 17 to inspect the row of the wire ropes in a non-contact state, a pair of damping rollers 21b provided on one side and on the other side of the row of wire ropes and with their axes in a horizontal state, and a driving unit to drive the pair of damping rollers 21b to the damping position where the pair of damping rollers abut respectively against the row of wire ropes and to the release position where they leave the row of wire ropes. The driving unit damps the row of wire ropes by driving the pair of damping rollers 21b to the damping position respectively when the non-destructive inspection device inspects the row of wire ropes.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
