To reduce tensile stress generated on a flange portion as a welded portion at the time of a side collision by setting the position of a bottom surface of a recessed bead for rigidity improvement closer to the flange portion as the welded portion than a neutral axis and prevent or suppress welding fracture.SOLUTION: A vehicle center pillar structure 10 is formed in an elongated shape having a protruded curvature shape to a direction in which a load acts on a portion of an area in a longer direction, and includes a pillar outer member 12 having a hat shape in cross-section and a pillar inner member 14 closing the opening side. Respective flange portions 28, 36 are integrally connected by welding. A recessed bead 30 in a longer direction is formed on a ceiling portion 24 of the pillar outer member 12. And, the recessed bead 30 formed on the ceiling portion 24 of the pillar outer member 12 is formed such that a ridge line 42 is formed on a bottom surface portion 40. The position in which the ridge line 42 is formed is located on the vehicle inner side from a neutral axis N of the entire vehicle center pillar structure 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8

    【課題】中立軸より剛性向上を図る凹ビードの底面部の位置を溶接個所のフランジ部に近づけることにより、側突時に溶接個所のフランジ部に発生する引張応力を低減し、溶接の破断の防止ないし抑制を図る。【解決手段】車両用センターピラー構造10は、長手方向の一部の範囲が荷重が作用する方向に対して凸形状の曲率形状とされる長尺形態であり、ハット型断面形状のピラーアウタ部材12と、開口側を閉鎖するピラーインナ部材14とからなり、それぞれのフランジ部28、36は溶接により一体化接合されており、ピラーアウタ部材12の天板部24には長手方向に凹ビード30が形成されている。そして、ピラーアウタ部材12の天板部24に形成される凹ビード30は、その底面部40に稜線42が形成される形状であり、当該稜線42が形成される位置を当該車両用センターピラー構造10全体の中立軸Nより車両内側方向としている。【選択図】図8
