To provide a lock mechanism which stops rotation of a wheel of a universal caster.SOLUTION: A wheel 4 to which a stopper 8 is attached, and a lifting tool 9 comprising a claw body 9-1 engaging with the stopper, a guide groove 9-2 and a shaft hole 9-3 are fixed to a wheel fitting frame by an axle 6. In this state, a vertical shaft 7, to which a hanging plate 7-1 is attached, is caused to pass through a shaft hole 1-4 and an elastic body 10 which are provided on a center pin 1-3, and is fixed in the shaft hole 9-3 of the lifting tool, a lifting plate of a drive arm is inserted below the hanging plate, and a wire is connected to an operation plate. Usually, the claw body 9-1 is depressed by gravity force of the lifting tool and the vertical shaft and energization force of the elastic body to cause the claw body to engage with a stop groove 8-1 thereby locking rotation of the wheel, the wire is pulled to rotate the lifting plate thereby lifting the lifting tool 9 via the hanging plate 7-1 and the vertical shaft 7, and the craw body is removed from the stop groove to make free wheel rotation. 【課題】自在キャスターの車輪の回転を停止するロック機構を提供する。【解決手段】停止体8を取り付けの車輪4と前記停止体に歯合する爪体9−1とガイド溝9−2と軸穴9−3から成る昇降具9とを車輪取付け枠に車軸6で固定する。この状態で吊り板7−1を付設の上下軸7をセンターピン1−3に付設の軸穴1−4と弾性体10に通して前記昇降具の軸穴9−3に固定し、駆動アームの昇降板を前記吊り板の下に挿し、作動板にワイヤーを接続する。常時は、昇降具と上下軸の重力と弾性体の付勢力で爪体9−1を押し下げて停止溝8−1に前記爪体を噛み合わせて車輪の回転をロックし、前記ワイヤーを引いて昇降板を回動して吊り板7−1と上下軸7を介して昇降具9を持ち上げ、前記停止溝から前記爪体を抜いて車輪の回転をフリーにする。このとき、停止体8と爪体9−1は前記ガイド溝と前記軸輪によって同期して旋回する。【選択図】図4
