To provide a reverse entry prevention device for an escalator that can detect reverse entry of users to an upper floor side entrance.SOLUTION: A reverse entry prevention device 5 for an escalator comprises a pressure detection mat 51 provided on the upper surface of an upper floor side floor 2 adjacent to an upper floor side entrance 11 of a first escalator 1A for ascending operation, and a reverse entry determination device 52 that determines whether or not a user reversely enters the upper floor side entrance 11 of the first escalator 1A using the detection result of the pressure detection mat 51 when the pressure detection mat 51 is stepped on by the user.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
