To provide a crossing rod breakage detection device capable of detecting the breakage of a crossing rod even though it is a weight-less type railway crossing gate.SOLUTION: A crossing rod breakage detection device 10 detects the breakage of a crossing rod in a weight-less type railway crossing gate which lifts a crossing rod 4 by a driving force of a motor 2 and lowers the crossing rod by its own weight. The crossing rod breakage detection device 10 measures a regenerative current of the motor 2 when the crossing rod 4 is lowered by its own weight and detects the breakage of the crossing rod by comparing the measured value and a value for determination of the regenerative current.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
