To provide a vehicle body structure for an electric vehicle which is light-weight and has high battery protection performance.SOLUTION: A vehicle body structure 1 for an electric vehicle includes: a battery 10 which is disposed at a vehicle body center lower part; hollow side sills 20 which extend in a vehicle body fore and aft direction at the outer side as seen in a vehicle width direction of the battery 10; a hollow bridge beam member 30 which is disposed below the side sill 20 and at the outer side as seen in the vehicle width direction of the battery 10 and extends in the vehicle body fore and aft direction and in which a cross section perpendicular to the vehicle body fore and aft direction is formed by a closed cross section; and at least one steel-made bridge pier member 40 which extends from the battery 10 to the bridge beam member 30 in the vehicle width direction and in which a cross section perpendicular to the vehicle width direction forms at least a part of the closed cross sectional shape.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
