To provide an antivibration device characteristic determination method capable of exerting a vibration reduction effect even for a vehicle traveling at a high speed while receiving travel resistance.SOLUTION: A characteristic determination method #100 is a method for determining a characteristic of an antivibration device suppressing excitation force propagating through a vehicle body of a vehicle and includes an optimal characteristic determination process #170 which determines an optimal characteristic of the antivibration device so that the characteristic of the antivibration device is changed from high rigidity to low rigidity when the vehicle is traveling at a predetermined constant speed with a predetermined load acting on the antivibration device. The optimal characteristic determination process #170 also determines a plateau region where a load-displacement curve representing the characteristic of the antivibration device has a low inclination. The characteristic determination method #100 also includes a constant speed load calculation process #120 which calculates a load acting in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle body when the vehicle is traveling at a constant speed.
