To preferably supply a storage cell included in an electric propulsion ship with direct-current power converted from alternating-current power from an alternating-current power supply irrespective of a location of the alternating-current power supply in the electric propulsion ship.SOLUTION: An electric propulsion system for a ship includes: one or more propulsion electric motors for propelling a ship; one or more secondary cells for supplying electrical power to the propulsion electric motors; and one or more power conversion units for charging the secondary cells with direct-current power.
