To highly accurately determine failure of a brake switch.SOLUTION: A brake switch failure diagnostic device 1 includes: an ON state estimation part 101 which determines whether or not deceleration of a vehicle is larger than a predetermined value, and estimates that it is in a brake switch ON state when the deceleration is larger; a first determination part 102 which determines failures of brake switches 51 and 52 on the basis of the states of the two brake switches 51 and 52, when it is estimated that it is in a brake switch ON state; an OFF state estimation part 103 which estimates that it is in a brake switch OFF state, when an accelerator opening and vehicle speed are larger than predetermined values within a predetermined time from a time point when it is estimated that it is in the brake switch ON state; and a second determination part 104 which determines failures of the brake switches 51 and 52 on the basis of the states of the two brake switches 51 and 52, when it is estimated that it is in the brake switch OFF state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
