To automatically stop or decelerate conveyance without using mechanical dedicated parts.SOLUTION: A conveyance-assisting device 1 comprises: first and second mecanum wheels 21R,21L which are installed to a bed 10; first and second motors 22R,22L which are driven/connected to the first and second mecanum wheels 21R,21L; a first and second rotation sensors SW3,SW4 which detect signals corresponding to rotational state of the first and second mecanum wheels 21R,21L; and a controller 4. The controller 4 determines whether or not the bed 10 is coasting on the basis of detection signals of the first and second rotation sensors SW3,SW4, and in the case where the controller determines that the bed 10 is coasting, it sets a command rotation number of the first and second motors 22R,22L so as to brake the coasting.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
