To provide an elevator lifting machine and an elevator shaft structure that can be easily installed in an opening space for an elevator arrangement and that are less likely to become a construction obstacle in a surrounding construction work and can improve a construction efficiency.SOLUTION: An elevator lifting machine 10 is arranged in an opening space 12 for an elevator installation formed in a structure, and suspends and supports a carrier so that it can be driven up and down. The elevator lifting machine comprises a hoist 21 to support a wire rope 14 connected to the carrier so that it can be hoisted and a frame part 20 to support the hoist. The frame part has telescopic legs 27 that can be expanded and contracted in a plan view. The frame part can be constructed on a surrounding structure 11 in the opening space in the extended state of the telescopic legs and the outer shape in a plan view becomes smaller than the opening space in the contracted state of the telescopic legs.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
