The thicknesses and tension strengths of metal plates to be made into the front side members 11 and crash boxes 21 respectively are designated so that a ratio Fx1/Fx2 of an axial force Fx1 of a cross section minimizing the cross-sectional line length of the closed cross section of the crash box 21 to an axial force Fx2 of a cross section minimizing the cross-sectional line length of the closed cross section of the front side member 11 becomes equal to or smaller than a predefined critical axial force ratio.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
