To provide a thermal management system and a fuel cell system that use as little volume in each nacelle as possible in aircraft that operate using liquid hydrogen fuel.SOLUTION: An aircraft 3855 comprises: a fuselage 3862; wings; engines connected to the wings; a set of liquid hydrogen tanks 3810; a vent 3860 located on a tail 3861 of the fuselage 3862; and a conduit system 3801 connecting the set of liquid hydrogen tanks 3810 to the vent 3860. A controller 3802 is configured to control the conduit system 3801 to release gaseous hydrogen 3811 in the set of liquid hydrogen tanks 3810 to travel through the conduit system 3801 and exit at the vent 3860 in response to pressure in the set of liquid hydrogen tanks 3810 being greater than a specified tolerance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 38
