To provide a method for reducing temperature peaks in a fuel cell.SOLUTION: There are presented a method (100) and a system (10) for reducing temperature peaks during start-up of a fuel cell (12) with a two-phase cooling system. The method (100) includes: a step (102) of adjusting a saturation pressure of a coolant, via a pressure control module (14), to a first saturation pressure such that a maximum temperature of a coolant induced by boiling delay is below a maximum operating temperature of the fuel cell; a step (104) of starting the fuel cell; and a step (106) of, in response to the maximum temperature of the coolant induced by boiling delay being exceeded, adjusting the saturation pressure of the coolant, via the pressure control module (14), to a second saturation pressure that is higher than the first saturation pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
