Disclosed are a charger for charging the high voltage battery of a vehicle and a method for controlling the same. The method according to the embodiment of the present invention includes (a) a step of detecting the frequency of AC power connected to a charger; (b) a step of derating the PFC output control voltage of the charger if the frequency of the AC power is less than the allowable critical frequency of the charger; and (c) a step of performing the charging of the high voltage battery through the charger.

    차량의 고전압 배터리 충전을 위한 충전 장치 및 그 제어 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 제어 방법은, (a) 충전기에 연결되는 교류 전원의 주파수를 감지하는 단계; (b) 상기 교류 전원의 주파수가 상기 충전기의 허용 임계 주파수 미만이면 상기 충전기의 PFC 출력 제어 전압을 디레이팅(derating)시키는 단계; 및 (c) 상기 충전기를 통해 고전압 배터리의 충전을 수행하는 단계;를 포함한다.
