The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method of generating a virtual engine sound for a vehicle which provide a virtual engine sound close to a real engine sound of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus of generating a virtual engine sound for a vehicle comprises: an RPM input unit to receive an RPM of a motor; a throttle input unit to receive a throttle in accordance with a displacement of an accelerator pedal; a vehicle speed input unit to receive a speed of a vehicle; a sound source storage unit which stores a plurality of tracks each containing sound sources corresponding to a plurality of RPM ranges; and a control unit to select sound sources to be mixed as an engine sound among the sound sources stored in the sound source storage unit based on the RPM inputted into the RPM input unit, and mix the selected sound sources based on the RPM, the throttle inputted into the throttle input unit, and the vehicle speed inputted into the vehicle speed input unit to generate a virtual engine sound.
본 발명은 차량의 가상 엔진음 발생 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 모터의 RPM을 입력받는 RPM입력부, 가속페달의 변위에 따른 스로틀(throttle)을 입력받는 스로틀입력부, 차량의 속도를 입력받는 차속입력부, 복수개의 RPM범위 각각에 대응되는 음원들을 포함하는 트랙을 복수개 저장하고 있는 음원저장부 및 상기 RPM입력부를 통해 입력된 RPM에 근거하여 상기 음원저장부에 저장된 음원들 중 엔진음으로 믹스될 음원들을 선택하고, 상기 RPM, 상기 스로틀입력부를 통해 입력된 스로틀 및 상기 차속입력부를 통해 입력된 차속에 근거하여 상기 선택된 음원들을 믹스하여 가상 엔진음을 생성하는 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
