Proposed are a reinforcement learning-based signal control device and a signal control method. The signal control device comprises: a photographing unit which photographs an image of an intersection to obtain an intersection image; a control unit which analyzes the intersection image obtained by the photographing unit to calculate congestion level information of the intersection, uses a reinforcement learning model trained by using state information and reward information operated based on the congestion level of the intersection as an input value, and the congestion level information, and calculates control information on the next signal; and a driving unit which drives a traffic light in accordance with the control information on the next signal calculated by the control unit.

    강화학습 기반 신호 제어 장치 및 신호 제어 방법을 제시하며, 신호 제어 장치는 교차로의 영상을 촬영하여 교차로 이미지를 획득하는 촬영부; 상기 촬영부가 획득한 교차로 이미지를 분석하여 상기 교차로의 혼잡도 정보를 산출하고, 교차로의 혼잡도에 기초하여 연산되는 상태 정보와 리워드 정보를 입력 값으로 하여 트레이닝 되는 강화학습 모델과 상기 혼잡도 정보를 이용하여 다음 신호에 대한 제어 정보를 산출하는 제어부; 그리고 상기 제어부가 산출한 다음 신호에 대한 제어 정보에 따라 신호등을 구동시키는 구동부를 포함할 수 있다.
