The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for providing vessel traffic service based on the mapping result of a vessel position based on an electronic chart and a vessel position on a CCTV screen in a traffic system for vessels and airplanes. The apparatus for providing vessel traffic service includes a multi sensor convergence processing part which generates vessel information by converging radar information and AIS information, an image object tracing combination processing part which sets a detection region on a CCTV image based on the vessel information, performs an image process in the set detection region, and detects the vessel, and an information providing part which generates mapping display information based on the result of detecting the vessel by performing the vessel information and image process and provides traffic service by displaying the generated mapping information on the CCTV screen.
