The present invention relates to a method for performing an external starting procedure or an external charging procedure of a supply and demand vehicle (28) comprising a high voltage traction battery (32) discharged by a supplying vehicle (10) comprising a charged high voltage traction battery (32). A current path (24) to an electric driving device (12) of the supplying vehicle (10) is separated from an inverter (16). For the external starting procedure (36) of the supply and demand vehicle (28), the inverter (16) of the supplying vehicle (10) is connected to the electric driving device (30) of the supply and demand vehicle (28) at an output thereof, and the inverter (16) of the supplying vehicle (10) operates in a virtual driving mode, and the electric driving device (30) of the supply and demand vehicle (28) is started. In the external charging procedure (46), the inverter (16) of the supplying vehicle (10) is connected to an inverter (34) of the supply and demand vehicle (28) at an output thereof and operates in a virtual driving mode, and on the other hand, the inverter (34) of the supply and demand vehicle (28) operates in a virtual recovery mode, and the discharged high voltage traction battery (32) of the supply and demand vehicle (28) is charged.
