The present invention relates to a radio frequency communication based train control (RF-CBTC) system and an operation method thereof and, more specifically, to a system capable of removing a ground ATP device and a backbone network which were installed in the RF-CBTC system by directly controlling a ground ATP/ATO device in a train. The RF-CBTC system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a plurality of radio repeaters installed along the railroad roadside and connecting wireless data communications between an on-board ATP/ATO device and a general control room and between an on-board ATP device and another on-board ATP device registered in an RF-CBTC section; tags installed at constant intervals on a railroad to provide, to the on-board ATP device of a train moving on the railroad, position information of the train; the on-board ATP/ATO device including the on-board ATP device and an on-board ATO device installed in the train; an on-board radio communications module installed in the train to provide a wireless communications interface between the ATP/ATO device and the radio repeaters; and the general control room equipped with the radio communications module and an antenna, and performing wireless communications with the on-board ATO device through the radio repeaters.

    본 발명은 RF-CBTC 시스템 및 그 운영방법에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 열차에 탑재된 지상ATP/ATO장치를 직접 제어하여 기존에 RF-CBTC 시스템에 구비되었던 지상ATP장치와 네트워크 백본망을 삭제할 수 있도록 하는 시스템 및 그 시스템의 운영방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 RF-CBTC 시스템은, 선로변에 다수 설치되어 차상ATP/ATO장치와 종합관제실 사이 및 한 차상ATP장치와 RF-CBTC 구간에 등록된 다른 차상ATP장치 사이에 무선 데이터 통신을 중계하는 무선중계기와, 선로에 소정 간격으로 설치되어 그 위를 통과하는 열차의 차상ATP장치에 열차의 위치 정보를 제공하는 태그와, 열차에 설치되는 차상ATP장치와 차상ATO장치를 구비하는 차상ATP/ATO장치와, 상기 열차에 설치되어 차상ATP/ATO장치와 무선중계기 사이에 무선 통신하도록 인터페이스하는 차상 무선통신모듈 및 무선통신모듈과 안테나를 자체 구비하여 상기 무선중계기를 통해 상기 차상ATO장치와 무선 통신하는 종합관제실을 포함하여 구성된다.
