The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for warning overloading of a vehicle. The overloading warning apparatus comprises: a transmission portion for receiving load information of a towing vehicle with respect to a towed trailer, and transmitting an overload warning signal to a driving control device of the towing vehicle; a control portion for calculating a rack force of a steering device based on the load information of the towing vehicle or a vertical load of a front wheel and a rear wheel so as to determine whether the trailer is overloaded; and a warning portion for outputting the overload warning signal depending upon the overload in the trailer.

    본 발명은 차량의 과적 경고 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로서, 과적 경고 장치는 견인된 트레일러에 대하여 견인차량의 하중 정보를 수신하고, 상기 견인차량의 주행 제어 장치로 과적 경고 신호를 송신하는 송수신부, 상기 견인차량의 상기 하중 정보를 기반으로 조향 장치의 랙추력(rack force) 또는 전륜 및 후륜의 수직하중을 산출하여 상기 트레일러의 과적 여부를 판단하는 제어부 및 상기 과적 여부에 따라 상기 과적 경고 신호를 출력하는 경고부를 포함한다.
