Disclosed are an electric brake and a control method thereof. The electric brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises: an electric booster including a motor that generates a driving force in response to a displacement of a brake pedal, and an electric booster control unit that receives a braking signal from a vehicle control unit controlling running of a vehicle to control the motor; a master cylinder including a piston that moves forward and backward by driving of the motor, and generating a braking hydraulic pressure using the piston; a plurality of wheel cylinders receiving the hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to generate a braking force; and a hydraulic circuit transmitting the hydraulic pressure generated by the master cylinder to the plurality of wheel cylinders. The electric booster control unit calculates a normal ratio, which is the maximum supply power of the motor divided by the maximum position of the piston, and a detection ratio, which is a change in supply power of the motor in situations where the braking force is generated divided by a change in position of the piston, and by comparing the normal ratio and the detection ratio, determines an oil leakage state of the hydraulic circuit.

    본 개시의 일 실시예에 의하면, 브레이크페달(brake pedal)의 변위(displacement)에 대응하여 구동력을 생성하는 모터(motor), 및 차량의 주행을 제어하는 차량 제어부(vehicle control unit)로부터 제동 신호를 수신하여 모터를 제어하는 전동부스터 제어부를 구비하는 전동부스터(electric booster); 모터의 구동에 의해 전후진 이동하는 피스톤(piston)을 구비하고, 피스톤을 이용하여 제동 유압을 형성하는 마스터실린더(master cylinder); 마스터실린더로부터 유압을 전달받아 제동력을 발생시키는 복수의 휠실린더(wheel cylinder); 및 마스터실린더가 형성한 유압을 복수의 휠실린더에 전달하는 유압회로(hydraulic circuit)를 포함하되, 전동부스터 제어부는 모터의 최대 공급전력(maximum supply power)을 피스톤의 최대 위치로 나눈 값인 정상비율(normal ratio) 및 제동력이 발생하는 상황에서 모터의 공급전력 변화량을 피스톤의 위치 변화량으로 나눈 값인 검출비율(detection ratio)을 계산하고, 정상비율과 검출비율을 비교하여 유압회로의 누유상태를 판단하는 전동식 브레이크를 제공한다.
