Disclosed are an independent liquid hydrogen storage tank including a vacuum insulation layer and a method for implementing vacuum insulation thereof. According to an aspect of the present invention, the independent liquid hydrogen storage tank including the vacuum insulation layer includes: a first barrier performing airtightness while being in direct contact with liquid hydrogen stored therein; a division structure installed to be separated at a fixed interval from the outer side of the first barrier, wherein the division structure forms a closed space between the first barrier and the same; and a vacuum insulation layer installed as the closed space is formed as a vacuum. Before vacuum work about the vacuum insulation layer is performed, the closed space is substituted with substitution gas to remove moisture and oxygen. Before or after the vacuum work on the vacuum insulation layer is performed, a cool-down process in which a small quality of liquid hydrogen is sprayed into the inner space of a first barrier to cool the inner space in advance is performed. Therefore, additional vacuum effect about the vacuum insulation layer occurs due to influence of temperature reduction of the vacuum insulation layer caused by a drop in the temperature of the first barrier, pressure reduction of the vacuum insulation layer caused by the drop in the temperature of the vacuum insulation layer, and the pressure reduction of the vacuum insulation layer caused by a phase change of substitution gas and the phase change of the residual substitution gas in the vacuum insulation layer caused by the drop in the temperature of the vacuum insulation layer.
진공 단열층을 포함하는 독립형 액화수소 저장탱크 및 그의 진공 단열 구현 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 측면에 따른 진공 단열층을 포함하는 독립형 액화수소 저장탱크는, 내부에 저장되는 액화수소와 직접 접하면서 기밀을 수행하는 1차 방벽; 1차 방벽의 외측으로부터 일정 거리 이격되게 설치되며 1차 방벽과의 사이에 폐공간을 형성하는 구획구조물; 및 폐공간을 진공으로 형성하여 마련되는 진공단열층을 포함하되, 진공단열층에 대한 진공 작업이 수행되기 전에 폐공간은 수분 및 산소를 제거하기 위한 목적으로 치환가스로 치환되고, 진공단열층에 대한 진공 작업이 수행되기 전 또는 후에 1차 방벽의 내부 공간에 소량의 액화수소를 분사하여 미리 냉각시키는 쿨다운 공정이 수행됨으로써, 1차 방벽의 온도 하락에 따른 진공단열층의 온도 감소 및 진공단열층의 온도 하락에 따른 진공단열층의 압력 감소, 그리고 진공단열층의 온도 하락에 따른 진공단열층 내 잔여 치환가스의 상변화 및 치환가스의 상변화에 따른 진공단열층의 압력 감소의 영향으로, 진공단열층에 대한 추가적인 진공 효과가 발생하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
