The purpose of the present invention is to provide a simple and more cost-effective monitoring method for a vehicle and a vehicle configured for executing the method. A method for monitoring a vehicle (10) comprising a wireless system having a transceiver, a first UWB antenna (14) and a second UWB antenna (16), and a control unit (12) connected to the wireless system, comprises the steps of: controlling the wireless system to transmit a UWB pulse using at least one of the first and second UWB antennas (14, 16) and to receive an impulse response; monitoring an exterior area (26) of the vehicle (10) for a person based on a result of the received impulse response; and activating at least one of an anti-theft function and an anti-damage function of the vehicle (10) under the condition that a person is detected in the monitored exterior area (26) of the vehicle (10).
