The disclosed technology provides solutions for managing autonomous vehicle (AV) collisions. In some aspects, a process of preserving collected environmental data associated with a collision event is provided. The process can include steps for collecting environmental data using one or more autonomous vehicle (AV) sensors, processing the environmental data to identify at least one emergency event, and analyzing the emergency event to determine an associated criticality level. In some approaches, the process can further include steps for automatically uploading the environmental data to a remote entity or server. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.
