EP 1254852 A UPAB: 20021216 NOVELTY - Storage and transport system comprises a number of rows of shelves (1) in several shelf planes for holding stored goods (3), a number of rails (4) arranged at the height of the individual shelf planes between the rows of shelves, several rail vehicles (5) having devices for holding and delivering the stored goods, a chassis, and drives for moving the vehicles on the rails, and devices for moving the vehicles between the shelf planes. The rails extend in a pre-zone in front of the row of shelves up to the destination of the stored goods. Devices are provided for cable-free external energy supply of the vehicles during their operation. A central control computer is provided for direct control of the vehicles carrying out transport tasks. The control computer is designed for independent control of the drives and the devices for holding and delivering the stored goods via a radio connection. The vehicles are equipped with a receiving system receiving and converting the co ntrol signals transmitted by the control computer. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preferred Features: The control computer has devices for determining an optimal path for the vehicles to avoid collisions. USE - For storing and transporting goods. ADVANTAGE - The flexible system allows simple and cost-effective modular expansion to increase capacity.
