The ongoing transformation of the automotive industry towards electric mobility presents several challenges. In this context, digitalization offers significant solutions that effectively address these issues. One key strategy involves the standardization of data acquisition, information provision, and data visualization. Standardizing these processes ensures consistent quality and facilitates better decision-making throughout the manufacturing processes and in the product lifecycle. Implementing a service-oriented architecture (SOA) further enhances the flexibility and scalability of production systems. The asset administration shell (AAS) is particularly beneficial in this regard. As the digital representation of physical assets, the AAS allows real-time monitoring and control, improving operational efficiency and predictive maintenance. This paper demonstrates the practical implementation of the ASS for manufacturing electric traction motors. Electric traction motors are a critical component of electric vehicles, and their efficient production is essential for the success of electric mobility. The implementation process includes integrating various sensors and data acquisition systems to create a seamless flow of information. The basis for this approach is an agile production system characterized by decentralized data provision.
