Since 2010, The MITRE Corporation's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) has been working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to improve the quality and availability of information on hazardous cargo transported throughout the National Airspace System (NAS). The primary focus of the effort has been development of a concept to incorporate hazardous cargo data elements in the Flight Object (FO), FAA's initiative for standardizing and facilitating access to a variety of flight data elements.
