Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is widely used in industry; rotor temperature is an important parameter to determine the health of PMSM. However, the existing rotor temperature measurement methods are unreliable. To solve this problem, a robust rotor temperature measurement method of PMSM based on the wound-rotor (WR) resolver reuse technique is proposed in this article. Accordingly, a temperature estimation algorithm based on a digital lock-in amplifier (DLIA) is proposed to solve the problem of rotor position affecting the resolver voltage. First, the principles of the WR resolver reuse technique and the corresponding temperature estimation algorithm are analyzed by analytical methods. Then, due to the primary function of a WR resolver to measure the rotor position angle, the influence of the proposed reuse technique on the motor rotor position angle measurement is analyzed. Finally, the proposed method is experimentally verified on the PMSM test platform, which shows that a rotor temperature accuracy of $4.7~^{\circ }$ C can be achieved. Meanwhile, this method does not affect rotor angle measurement. The results show that the proposed method can achieve satisfactory temperature measurement performance with stronger reliability.
